A179 Carbon steel round bar

A179 is an ASTM standard specification for seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for heat exchangers and condensers. It is not a standard grade for "round bar". Round bars of similar low-carbon composition are typically supplied under standards such as ASTM A29 for general purpose.

PRODUCT DETAILS

Material	Low-Carbon Steel (for cold-drawn tube application). Note: "A179" is a standard for seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes, not a plate/round bar material designation.
Thickness	For Tube Wall Thickness: Typically 0.83mm (0.0325 in) to 12.7mm (0.500 in) as per standard. The stated range (0.1mm-300mm) is incorrect for this product.
Standard	ASTM A179 / ASME SA179
Technique	Cold Drawn, Seamless (for tubes). "Hot rolled, cold rolled" is incorrect for ASTM A179 tubes.
Surface Treatment	Clean, blasting and painting according to customer requirement. (Note: Standard finish is bare/cold drawn.)
Thickness tolerance	Per ASTM A179, wall thickness tolerance is +20%, -0% of the nominal wall for most sizes. The stated ±0.1mm is incorrect.
Application	Seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer equipment. The description related to automotive structural parts is incorrect for ASTM A179.
Shipment time	Within 7-15 workdays after receiving deposit or L/C
Export packing	Waterproof paper, and steel strip packed. Standard Export Seaworthy Package.Suit for all kinds of transport,or as required

Round steel belongs to carbon structural steel for construction and machinery, while square steel belongs to carbon structural
steel for machinery. Both of them are simple section steel, and their section shapes are respectively round and square. Low carbon is mainly used for
drawing wire, forging rivets, bolts, nuts and other metal products of raw materials. Medium carbon round steel and square steel
are generally used to make mechanical structural parts.
